The Last Starfighter (1984)

Reviews and Comments

The Last Starfighter was a staple of young Star Wars junkies in the 80s that wanted more fantastical stories set in space. It skews younger than Star Wars does, chronicling the adventures of a kid who beats an arcade game and then discovers that -- well, to say more would spoil the fun, but obviously he winds up in space, shooting aliens for real. While it's nothing groundbreaking, it's fun enough for kids and liable to inspire their imaginations.

Oh, and the Death Blossom is the coolest space weapon ever.
