With a title like Stupid Teenagers Must Die and an opening title card that reads, "Long ago, in a time of pure evil...the 1980's," you might think this is a parody of 80s slasher movies like Friday the 13th. I'm sure that's what the filmmakers thought it was, too. But it's not. It's not a parody at all, but an actual member of the genre it's supposedly making fun of.

Did the writer know what parody is? It's not a faithful reworking of a formula with a few jokes thrown in. The jokes, lame though they are, don't make fun of the genre; they're just some cracks made by the characters. The 80s slasher movies had wisecracking characters, too. Big deal.

It doesn't work as a straight slasher, either. This movie has unbelievably terrible acting and looks like it was shot with a camcorder in the director's house. The dialogue ranges from banal to painful, never once venturing anywhere near interesting. Indeed, these stupid teenagers must die. But even with a slim running time of 76 minutes, they didn't die fast enough.
