Reviews and Comments

In Portrait of Jennie, a young artist (Joseph Cotten) trying to make his way in the world meets an otherworldly young girl that inspires him. He seeks to find out who she is and make use of the inspiration she gives him. It's a lightweight fantasy and poignant drama rolled into one. Producer David O. Selznick was said to be borderline obsessive regarding the film's production; this was probably due to his interest in leading lady Jennifer Jones, whom he married a year or so later.
