Monkey Business (1931)

The Marx Brothers hit their stride in their previous film, Animal Crackers, and would achieve enduring greatness in their next, Horse Feathers. Monkey Business is the cozy little film in the middle. There is no plot to speak of, and what little there is is not worth following: this is pretty much just a showcase of the Marx Brothers' unique brand of comedy. The one-liners and slapstick gags come so fast, you're bound to miss some the first time through. Of particular note is a scene where Groucho is caught in the private chamber of a married woman and survives the experience basically by bewildering her husband, and also a scene where Harpo turns his trademark harp scene into a slapstick sequence before settling down to play for real.
