Jason and the Argonauts (1963)

Reviews and Comments

Though marred by wooden acting, Jason and the Argonauts triumphs as an adventure fantasy thanks to the fantastic special effects by the legendary stop motion animator Ray Harryhausen. The effects stand up well even today, and what flaws there are serve as part of its style -- done today with computer animation, it just wouldn't be the same. The skeleton battle at the end took four months to animate; it's not hard to see why.
