Half a Loaf of Kung Fu (1980)

Reviews and Comments

"You fool! Let's fight!"

The above quotation amusely summarizes the spirit of the second-rate kung fu movies of the seventies and eighties, so it's not surprising to see it in this parody of the genre, one of Jackie Chan's early films.

Unfortunately, there is so little in the film that's appealing in any way that it's a chore to sit through. Ostensibly a comedy, it's not funny, and the failure is worsened by the fact that exaggerated expressions and kooky sound effects keep trying to punch up jokes that just aren't there. The only piece that delivers is the choreography of the final fight scene.
