"Careful of the web. There may be a spider in it."

Robert Benchley is troubled by the contradicting predictions of a fortune teller and a dream. He doesn't believe in either, but since one must come true, he has to acknowledge the truth of one or the other. That's the connecting link (essentially just an excuse for the rest of the content) in this star-peppered frametale of three short stories of destinies, premonitions, flesh, fantasy, and the supernatural. All the stories are eerily entertaining, although only the last is particularly substantial.
