Jeff Probst, host of Survivor, is the writer-director of this flawed but immensely entertaining thriller about a lost wallet, a poker game, and a winning lottery ticket. The movie is made by the writing, which is dense and nicely tuned to the ensemble of characters, and the acting, which features among other nice performances, James Earl Jones as a congenial man who's smart about improvising on the fly and a hilariously quirky Matthew Lillard. Probst has a good sense of character and timing and knows how to build tension through dialogue.
