Reviews and Comments

A Song For the Heart is, right down to its title, a formula TV movie with fairly predictable plot developments and a story that begs to cut deeper than it does. But it's a noteworthy effort for two reasons, the first of which is admittedly personal. It's the acting debut of Amy Grant, my favorite gospel/pop singer. Although her gifts are clearly more in the music line than in the movie line, she turns in a surprisingly competent, believable, and sympathetic performance. The second attribute that makes this movie stand out is its beautiful music. No, Amy Grant doesn't sing; she teaches at a music school and conducts some beautiful orchestral pieces.
