Now, before I start this, let's get one thing straight: I LOVE the Beatles and in no way mean to bash them -- but this movie is terrible. It could be summed up in one word: "What?" Or, even better: "Confusing."

The only thing that's really clear in this movie is that the Beatles have to fight these Blue Meanie things for some reason, something like the inability to love or some other load of sixties "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" mentality. Other than that, it's a bizarre mixture of bad, very trippy animation and Beatles music (easily the best part of the movie, even though a lot of it isn't their best).

The whole thing looks like something a five-year-old with ADHD would make. The Beatles don't even supply their own voices. Apparently they were scared off because they remembered the old morning Beatles cartoons, which they despised, and thought that this would be like it -- but when they saw the film, they were so impressed that they agreed to do a live action cameo at the end.

If you're a Beatlemaniac, you'll probably want to go see this. Meanwhile, the rest of us, the ones who like the Beatles but don't own the White Album, can keep watching "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help!"

Rating: 2 turkeys.
