Thinking that picking Beatles songs from a hat and stringng them together in random order would suffice for a plot, Robert Stigwood subjects us to all our Beatles faves ruined by some of Hollywoods' best: George Burns, Donald Pleasence, and Steve Martin (his film debut, even!). But this film wouldn't be complete without trotting out contempo musicians to embarrass themselves as well. Ever wonder why Aerosmith covered "One"? Now you know. Alice Cooper was in this film, though I doubt he remembers. Herbie Hancock lent some songs but wisely stayed off camera. The headlining Bee Gees and Peter Frampton take most of the cake, though -- not that they need Beatles songs to embarrass themselves.

Some of the 70s would-be's like "StarGuard" only make this film better (worse?), but the giant-all-star-cast-of-thousands finale will blow you away, leaving you to muse, "Oh yeah, Carol Channing, Wolfman Jack, Edgar Winter...whatever DID happen to them?"

Truly, this movie is a tombstone for careers.
