Your Last Movie

An interesting thought experiment: if you could only pick one movie to see again for the rest of your life, which would it be? You could watch that movie as often as you want, but no others.

I've thought a lot about this, but my initial pick is still my current one. Comedies are probably out, since watching a comedy too many times completely kills it. But weighty dramas are tough, too, since there are plenty of times where I want a movie that will cheer me up.

I thought about my favorite pick-me-up movie, which is Singin' in the Rain. But it's just a little too sugary sometimes. So then I thought about a good rip-roaring action/adventure. Maybe Raiders of the Lost Ark? Die Hard? Again, just not quite enough substance.

So my pick has to be Casablanca. It has some serious moments, but also a lot of comedy. There's no real action, but there are a lot of good scenes with tension and suspense. There's a good romance, and the movie is very inspiring by the time it's over. There are Nazis as the bad guys. I think it's pretty much the most complete movie ever made.

How about you?
